VISA gift cards or other reloadable gift cards
Refunds are processed via the original payment method used. For example, if you use a credit card or VISA gift card, the amount refunded will be issued to that card, and cannot be issued to another form of payment or card. Therefore, if a refund is needed for a VISA or other reloadable gift card, and it has been lost or stolen, we will be unable to issue any refunds to a secondary card. Please keep your original card, even if the balance is now 0. We will not be able to use a different card to issue the refund. If the card is lost or stolen, you may receive a gift card from our company for use on a future tour or event. For any other issues about lost or stolen VISA or other reloadable gift cards other than directly from Houston Ghost Tour, please contact the company providing the card service for help. We will not issue a cash or check refund in this instance.
Accessibility: We try our best to make our tours and routes accessible to those with specific needs. While we exercise caution along our tour route, some areas may not be easily accessible to some motorized or manual wheelchairs, those with limited mobility, strollers, walkers/canes, or those with injuries. We recommend calling us to discuss your unique situation with us before booking, if you are concerned about your particular needs.
Flashlights or lanterns will not be provided on your tour. You may bring one with you if you wish. Most guests choose to turn on their cell phone flashlight in darker areas, however, we do not feel it is necessary in most cases.
Safety while on tour: We walk through town on sidewalks, pathways, and alleyways, and some roadways, at night. Please use extreme caution while walking behind your guide. Our guides are instructed to watch over our guests along the way, but each person is responsible for their own personal safety. Please keep your children close to your person by holding hands, or keeping them near you at all times. Parents or guardians with children who run out into the street, or move about the tour group excessively will be asked to leave for your safety and the safety of our group.
Customer Behavior Policy: We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone at any time. In the event that you or anyone in your group presents a hostile or threatening attitude with any guest or our staff, we reserve the right to refuse your attendance to our tours as of that event and for all future instances. We do not allow disruption or hostility, hate speech, vulgarity, intoxication, or violence, period. If you or any one of your group presents themselves in this manner, you may first be asked to cease the behavior, or you will be asked to leave immediately. We reserve the right to call law enforcement if the situation deems necessary. Thank you for behaving with courtesy and kindness, as our staff expects no less of our behavior as a company. No refunds will be issued to any guests who are asked to leave due to behavior problems.
Children on tour: Children can get very scared at our tours and events. Our guides are trained to help calm your child’s worries, and make them feel at ease. Our family tour is geared toward children, and specifically designed for a child’s perspective. We recommend joining our Family Tour, or our General Admission tours if you plan to bring children under the age of 12.
Children under the age of 17 years old must be accompanied by a parental guardian in order to attend the tour. Children under the age of 12 must remain beside their parent during the entire tour or event. We request that you hold your young child’s hand while walking if possible. Children who are disruptive, talkative, running, playing, screaming, or crying will be asked to cease the behavior. If behavior does not change, you and your child will be required to leave. In the event that your child is uncontrolled, we reserve the right to reschedule your tour or cancel it without refund. Pets or Service Animals: Due to the nature of the tour, only certified service animals may attend the tour. No pets or emotional support animals are allowed. If you will be bringing a service animal on the tour, you must contact us and let us know by text, email, or phone call, prior to your tour date.
Intoxicated guests: If you or anyone in your group are visibly intoxicated, we will ask you/them to leave the tour. This is for you/their safety as well as the group, as it is not safe to walk the tour while intoxicated. We will not refund tickets for intoxicated guests who are asked to leave.

Houston Ghost Tour is committed to a work environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity. Each individual has the right to work in a professional atmosphere that promotes equal employment opportunities and prohibits unlawful discriminatory practices, including harassment. Therefore, Houston Ghost Tour expects that all relationships among persons on the tour will be business-like and free of explicit bias, prejudice and harassment.
Houston Ghost Tour has developed this policy to ensure that all its employees can work in an environment free from unlawful harassment, discrimination and retaliation. Houston Ghost Tour will make every reasonable effort to ensure that all concerned are familiar with these policies and are aware that any complaint in violation of such policies will be investigated and resolved appropriately.
Any employee who has questions or concerns about these policies should talk with the director.
These policies should not, and may not, be used as a basis for excluding or separating individuals of a particular gender, or any other protected characteristic, from participating in business or work-related social activities or discussions. In other words, no one should make the mistake of engaging in discrimination or exclusion to avoid allegations of harassment. The law and the policies of Houston Ghost Tour prohibit disparate treatment on the basis of sex or any other protected characteristic, with regard to terms, conditions, privileges and perquisites of employment. The prohibitions against harassment, discrimination and retaliation are intended to complement and further those policies, not to form the basis of an exception to them.
Equal employment opportunity
It is the policy of Houston Ghost Tour to ensure equal employment opportunity without discrimination or harassment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, marital status, citizenship, national origin, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law. Houston Ghost Tour prohibits any such discrimination or harassment.
Houston Ghost Tour encourages reporting of all perceived incidents of discrimination or harassment. It our policy to promptly and thoroughly investigate such reports. Houston Ghost Tour prohibits retaliation against any individual who reports discrimination or harassment or participates in an investigation of such reports.
Sexual harassment constitutes discrimination and is illegal under federal, state and local laws. For the purposes of this policy, “sexual harassment” is defined, as in the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Guidelines, as unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature when, for example: a) submission to such conduct is made either explicitly or implicitly a term or condition of an individual’s employment, b) submission to or rejection of such conduct by an individual is used as the basis for employment decisions affecting such individual, or c) such conduct has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual’s work performance or creating an intimidating, hostile or offensive working environment.
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 recognizes two types of sexual harassment: a) quid pro quo and b) hostile work environment. Sexual harassment may include a range of subtle and not-so-subtle behaviors and may involve individuals of the same or different gender. Depending on the circumstances, these behaviors may include unwanted sexual advances or requests for sexual favors; sexual jokes and innuendo; verbal abuse of a sexual nature; commentary about an individual’s body, sexual prowess or sexual deficiencies; leering, whistling or touching; insulting or obscene comments or gestures; display in the workplace of sexually suggestive objects or pictures; and other physical, verbal or visual conduct of a sexual nature.
Harassment on the basis of any other protected characteristic is also strictly prohibited. Under this policy, harassment is verbal, written or physical conduct that denigrates or shows hostility or aversion toward an individual because of his or her race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, marital status, citizenship, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law, or that of his or her relatives, friends or associates, and that: a) has the purpose or effect of creating an intimidating, hostile or offensive work environment, b) has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual’s work performance, or c) otherwise adversely affects an individual’s employment opportunities.
Harassing conduct includes epithets, slurs or negative stereotyping; threatening, intimidating or hostile acts; denigrating jokes; and written or graphic material that denigrates or shows hostility or aversion toward an individual or group that is placed on walls or elsewhere on the employer’s premises or circulated in the workplace, on company time or using company equipment by e-mail, phone (including voice messages), text messages, social networking sites or other means.
Individuals and Conduct Covered
These policies apply to all applicants and employees, whether related to conduct engaged in by fellow employees or by someone not directly connected to Houston Ghost Tour (e.g., an outside vendor, consultant or customer).
Conduct prohibited by these policies is unacceptable in the workplace and in any work-related setting outside the workplace, such as during business trips, business meetings and business-related social events.
Reporting an Incident of Harassment, Discrimination or Retaliation
Houston Ghost Tour encourages reporting of all perceived incidents of discrimination, harassment or retaliation, regardless of the offender’s identity or position. Individuals who believe that they have been the victim of such conduct should discuss their concerns with their immediate supervisor, any member of the personnel practices committee, human resources or any ombudsman. See the complaint procedure described below.
In addition, Houston Ghost Tour encourages individuals who believe they are being subjected to such conduct to promptly advise the offender that his or her behavior is unwelcome and to request that it be discontinued. Often this action alone will resolve the problem. Houston Ghost Tour recognizes, however, that an individual may prefer to pursue the matter through complaint procedures.
Individuals who believe they have been the victims of conduct prohibited by this policy or believe they have witnessed such conduct should discuss their concerns with their immediate supervisor, or the managing director.
Houston Ghost Tour encourages the prompt reporting of complaints or concerns so that rapid and constructive action can be taken before relationships become irreparably strained. Therefore, while no fixed reporting period has been established, early reporting and intervention have proven to be the most effective method of resolving actual or perceived incidents of harassment.
Any reported allegations of harassment, discrimination or retaliation will be investigated promptly. The investigation may include individual interviews with the parties involved and, where necessary, with individuals who may have observed the alleged conduct or may have other relevant knowledge.
Houston Ghost Tour will maintain confidentiality throughout the investigatory process to the extent consistent with adequate investigation and appropriate corrective action.
Retaliation against an individual for reporting harassment or discrimination or for participating in an investigation of a claim of harassment or discrimination is a serious violation of this policy and, like harassment or discrimination itself, will be subject to disciplinary action. Acts of retaliation should be reported immediately and will be promptly investigated and addressed.
Misconduct constituting harassment, discrimination or retaliation will be dealt with appropriately. Responsive action may include, for example, training, referral to counseling or disciplinary action such as a warning, reprimand, withholding of a promotion or pay increase, reassignment, temporary suspension without pay, or termination, as Houston Ghost Tour believes appropriate under the circumstances.
If a party to a complaint does not agree with its resolution, that party may appeal to Houston Ghost Tour’s executive director or the chief operating officer.
False and malicious complaints of harassment, discrimination or retaliation (as opposed to complaints that, even if erroneous, are made in good faith) may be the subject of appropriate disciplinary action.
